Equity and acquisitions
Equity and acquisitions for Nations.
Nations and Nation-owned development corporations are acquiring established businesses and taking equity stakes in projects. We help source and assess the opportunities, and bring the right professionals to the table.
Acquiring established businesses
Including businesses whose owners are preparing to retire. We source, assess and shortlist against the buyer's brief, and set out strengths and risks plainly. See also our succession planning page.
Equity in projects
For a project stake, we help review the opportunity and the financing structure, alongside the Nation's own advisers and counsel.
Loan guarantees, in context
The federal Indigenous Loan Guarantee Program, now $10 billion, backs loans for Indigenous equity investments in major projects, with guarantees from $20 million to $1 billion. It is built for large projects, and smaller acquisitions usually need other financing.
Source for the program: Canada Indigenous Loan Guarantee Corporation. We do not act for any Nation as legal counsel, and each Nation decides how and when to proceed.

Questions
FAQs
Do you give immigration or legal advice?
No. Where an investment is connected to an immigration plan, or needs legal, tax or securities advice, that advice comes from licensed professionals we work with. We focus on the business.
Can you guarantee a return, or an outcome on an application?
No. We assess opportunities carefully and explain the risks plainly, but no adviser can promise returns, permits or approvals.
Can you screen for specific criteria?
Yes. We screen for sector, size, location and financing structure, and for any ethical or values-based criteria you set.
Is my enquiry confidential?
Yes. Buyer and seller details are shared only with your permission, and sellers are introduced through anonymous teasers first.
Do you invest in or broker securities?
No. We do not sell investments or handle client funds.
Can you help me plan my own exit?
Yes. Business succession planning is part of this practice: comparing routes, preparing the business for scrutiny and finding the right buyer. See our succession planning page for how it works.
